Wuhan-The offshoring Center for Business, Science, Technology & Finance and Culture in central China.
> Wuhan is located in the center of China, at the confluence of the Yangtse and Han Jiang Rivers. In terms of geography and business, Wuhan occupies a position of enormous strategic importance in China. Indeed the city is often referred to as the 'Gateway to Nine Provinces'. Thus Wuhan has many distinct economic and geographic advantages when it comes to the development of software and IT services industries.
> Within a 1,200-kilometer radius of Wuhan are located 24 provinces including 70 of China's largest cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou.
> Wuhan is an ancient city with a history of more than 3,500 years. The city, which covers an area of 8,467 sq km, has a population of 8,310,000. Wuhan is in fact made up of three separate cities (Wuchang, Hankou and Hanyang) which together make up the larger metropolis.
> Wuhan is the scientific and educational center in Central China, with 35 higher educational institutions such as Wuhan University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, which cover all the fields of science and technology and employ elites and explorers in these fields. Wuhan has formed a comprehensive scientific and educational strength ranking the third in China with its main force: three national development zones and four scientific and technologic development parks as well as numerous enterprise incubators, over 350 research institutes, 1470 hi-tech enterprises, and over 400,000 experts and technicians.
> The GDP of Wuhan was close to 224 billion yuan in 2005，a 14.7% increase on the previous year. Wuhan ranks first among all provincial capitals in China's six central provinces. The Wuhan economic region consists of nine cities, the most important of which are Wuhan and Huangshi. The region accounts for 60% of Hubei's total GDP.
68 of the Global Fortune 500 companies have invested in Wuhan, in a total of 66 investment projects。
> One of the most outstanding features of Wuhan as a business location is its commitment to educational excellence. Wuhan boasts a number of outstanding education institutions which each year produce large numbers of extremely talented, well-qualified graduates. These educational centers of excellence boast 48 members of the Chinese Academies of Science and Engineering, 52 colleges and universities, and a total enrolment of 760,000 students ranking third in china. This is arguably Wuhan's greatest strength when it comes to the services outsourcing industry.
